Job Summary

Michigan Medicine  NHC CMC Therapy-MedSport is currently seeking a Sports Physical Therapist experienced in the  treatment of orthopedic extremity injuries and conditions for active individuals from the pediatric to geriatric populations at our Northville Health Center Facility. This position also encompasses duties supervising the strength and conditioning, performance enhancement, and injury prevention programming of a local national young women’s soccer club. The Physical Therapist is also responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients in a high volume, sports medicine setting.

Candidate is expected to plan, implement, evaluate and modify treatment programs for patients in a sports medicine team approach; provide direct patient care using physical therapy procedures and modalities; instruct patients in use of prescribed equipment and home exercise programs; maintain records of patient condition and physical therapy procedures/modalities; serve as consultant to physical therapists, athletic trainers, physical therapy assistants and other health care professionals concerning clinical problems and/or procedures; conduct special projects/in-services as directed; participate in teaching of physical therapy/athletic training students.

Required Qualifications*

Bachelors Degree or Post Baccalaureate Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited physical therapy program is required.

Eligible for Physical Therapy License in the State of Michigan and obtain the license within three months from date of hire.


Desired Qualifications*

Qualified candidates should have 1-3 years of sports medicine rehabilitation experience with orthopedic injuries and conditions, postoperative patient care along with strong manual skills. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and/or Athletic Training background and/or Board-Certified Sports Specialist. A soccer background is preferred, but not necessary.


Work Schedule

Hours/Week:  40 hours/week (4-8 hours per week directly with local soccer club; seasonally)

Shift within clinic hours of 7:00 AM-7:30 PM Monday through Friday, shift to be determined

Saturday hours may be needed if clinic hours are expanded

Coverage hours for the soccer team would be in evenings and intermittently weekends. 


Background Screening

University of Michigan Health System conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
