We are hiring immediately for a Physical Therapist to join the UTHealth McGovern Medical School Department of Neurology in Houston, TX 77030. Ideal candidate for this role will have Neurologic Clinical Specialist (NCS) certification. This position will be working in the Institute for Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease project.

Position Summary:
Provides professional, educational, and clinical skills in organizing and directing physical therapy services and administering treatment programs. Participate in building and leading stroke rehabilitation and recovery research with novel applications in mobile health, telerehabilitation, digital health with AI technologies, high intensity therapies, neurostimulation protocols, and cutting edge devices. Assist with clinical research protocols by recruiting, screening suitable candidate for research protocols. Participates in the development and writing of clinical research protocols and assist with preparation of progress reports and grant proposals as well as all study related activities to rehabilitation therapies per research protocol.
Position Key Accountabilities:
- Coordinates all physical therapy and related orthopedic care to ensure appropriate patient treatment.
- Conducts patient consultation, evaluation, and program planning for all patients.
- Develops home exercise programs to instruct patients in the required exercise for treatment.
- Reassesses patient status on an ongoing basis to ensure that treatment goals, plans, and program are appropriate.
- Communicates effectively with patient/family to ensure knowledge of treatment plan and home exercises.
- Develops educational programs to increase patient/family and community awareness of physical therapy treatment.
- Assists in continuing education and orientation or new employees to increase awareness of physical therapy treatments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
- Certified by American Physical Therapy Association and Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of Physical Therapy and four years of experience; OR
Master’s degree in Physical Therapy and two years of experience; OR
Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy and no experience
Minimum Experience:
- Years of experience varies based on education level.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
Security Sensitive:
This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215
Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
