Summary of Job Duties:

The Physical Therapist performs diagnostic testing and treatment and consults with staff regarding programming recommendations, primarily for patients with neurologic deficits. They also support treatment plan development for patients with neurologic involvement in the outpatient and SNF settings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy
  • Two (2) years PT experience with neurological therapy patients
  • Current Arkansas license

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Must have a strong background in the treatment of neurologic conditions.  
  • Must have the ability to conduct and interpret tests administered to patients.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate with clinic staff, physicians, and the public.
  • Must possess good hand-eye coordination and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability to conduct and interpret tests administered to patients.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s  or DPT degree
  • Neuro Clinical Specialist(NCS)
  • Four (4) years PT experience
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish-English)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Will provide direct patient care, diagnose, and treat patients of ages 12 years and up who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives.
  • Will examine each individual and develop a plan using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function and prevent disability.
  • Will work with patients to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness and wellness-oriented programs.
  • Will additionally provide documentation to make sure that UAMS’ policies, procedures, and HIPAA standards are being met when treating patients.
  • Documents daily treatments and observations in patient progress notes; prepares monthly patient performance summary related to program goals and objectives and submits to Occupational Therapist.
