2-3 years of physical therapy outpatient experience
Dual credentialed as an ATC
Credential in OCS and/or SCS
Experience working in a student health clinic or direct work with students


Job Description:

Summary
Thielen Student Health Center at Iowa State University has an opening for a physical therapist to perform physical therapy treatments to patients including students, student-athletes, faculty, and staff.

Work Schedule:  Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

No weekend, holiday, or on-call work.


Example of Duties
• Reviews and evaluates physician referrals and patient medical records to determine physical treatment required.
• Performs patient tests and measurements employing a variety of techniques to aid in establishing or revising specifics of treatment programs.
• Administers manual therapeutic exercise and treatment to improve or maintain muscle joint function.
• Administers physical therapy treatments involving physical agents, such as light, heat, water, electricity, sound and radiant energy.
• Utilizes mechanical and electrical equipment to obtain measurements of muscles, nerves, ski temperature, etc.
• Plans and prepares written treatment programs based on evaluation of patient data.
• Maintains daily written notes of treatment and dictation of medical progress notes to physicians and other records.
• Confers with the physician and other health practitioners to obtain additional information and discuss physical therapy treatment.
Level Guidelines
• Senior-level position possessing high-level professional and/or technical skills working independently under minimal supervision to support ISU’s mission and department or work unit goals
• Applies senior-level professional knowledge and expertise to work requiring greater latitude
• Solves moderately complex problems and regularly exercises judgment to determine appropriate action
• Regularly exercises judgment to resolve problems and determine appropriate action on a broad set of issue and problems. May provide recommendations regarding problems/issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices
• Responds to complicated inquiries, provides training, and provides direction to lower-level staff
• May provide supervision for one to two other staff (i.e., leads a small work team)
• May lead projects for which well-defined practices and procedures may not exist
• Provides guidance to students
