Position Summary

The Physical Therapist III ensures high quality, patient-centered care through oversight of the overall daily function and staffing of the Rehabilitation Services team. As a vital member of the multidisciplinary team, the Manager coordinates appropriate staffing levels and treatment schedules. The Manager guides the provision of therapeutic care to achieve optimal outcomes and excellence in patient satisfaction. The Manager will also function as a licensed therapist and administer therapy modalities and treatment as prescribed by the licensed physician. 


Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a Master's degree program in Physical Therapy; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in providing physical therapy treatments and in supervision; may require orthopedic experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and possession of a valid State of Michigan Physical Therapist license. Position may also require Ergonomic Certification by the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics.


Desired Qualifications

Three to five years of experience as a physical therapist in an outpatient setting with previous managerial duties.

Summary of Physical Demands

The job requires significant physical effort and involves performing stretching/resistance exercises for patients, lifting patients from wheel chairs, moving equipment and demonstrating exercises 26 to 75% of the time.


Summary of Health Risks

Exposure to human blood, serum, and other body fluids; and materials covered under Universal Precautions; TB risk or work within three (3) feet of patients in a health care setting; wear a respirator.
