HJF is seeking a part-time Physical Therapist to support the School of Medicine located at the Uniformed Services University (USU) in Bethesda, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to the School of Medicine. 

The incumbent is responsible for providing professional skills coordinating and administering complex therapeutic and clinical education programs for physical therapy.

Responsibilities:  

  • Plans and supervises a program of physical therapy activities for functional and supportive patients.
  • Modifies treatment as required and consults with head of section regarding long term planning.
  • Coordinates activities with nursing, social work and volunteer services.
  • Treats and/or supervises the treatment of patients.
  • Complies reports and submits purchase request for physical therapy activities.
  • Attends meetings, aids with necessary public relations and keeps abreast of new physical therapy techniques.
  • Lectures and demonstrates to visiting professions and students and participates in in-service education.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  Thorough knowledge of physical therapy materials and equipment and their economic and beneficial use.

    Minimum Education/Training Requirements:  Bachelor's degree in physical therapy.

    Minimum Experience:  4 to 6 years’ experience as a Physical Therapist with supervisory experience.

    Physical Capabilities:  Long periods of standing and sitting; bending; may involve lifting of patients.

    Required Licenses, Certification or Registration:  Registration as a Physical Therapist with the American Physical Therapy Association. Must have or have the ability to obtain a Maryland License. Must have or have the ability to obtain an American Red Cross BLS. 

    Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls:  Provides direct supervision of Therapeutic Activities Specialist, clerical and volunteer personnel.

    Work Environment:  Clinical environment.

    Background: Eligibility to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC); eligibility to obtain and hold a Public Trust background.
