UW Medical Center-Northwest – OUTPATIENT THERAPIES has an outstanding opportunity for a PHYSICAL THERAPIST - PELVIC HEALTH.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
This role provides pelvic rehabilitation services to a variety of patients, including perimenopausal mothers, athletes, patients with incontinence, and patients experiencing pelvic health complications. The Physical Therapist will serve as the pelvic health subject matter expert on our team and will work closely with our providers to support patients with pelvic health needs. When needed, the Physical Therapist will also provide general musculoskeletal rehabilitation services.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans and Evaluates Care:
- Provides initial evaluation and determination of appropriate pelvic rehabilitation needs
- Makes appropriate referrals to other health care providers
- Reviews physician’s referral and patient’s medical record, reviews diagnosis, and determines therapy treatment required
- Evaluates and monitors patient’s progression and makes appropriate adjustments to treatment plan to achieve maximum benefit

Provides, Progresses, and Documents Care:
- Performs and documents an initial exam and evaluates data and diagnosis to identify problems.
- Administers position and exercises, massage, and other treatments to relieve pain, increase flexibility and strength, and decrease patient’s disability
- Follows established procedures and observes all safety precautions in the application and the use of heat, cold, light, water, sound, message, mobilization, and electrical stimulation
- Meets departmental standards for quality, customer service, and productivity
- Records patient’s treatment, progress, and response in patient’s chart/computer record.
- Completes charging methodology (Epic) to reflect time spent with patients seen each day

Provides for Continuing Care:
- Trains patients in exercises, ambulation, and activities of daily living
- When appropriate, establishes a home program to encourage patient involvement and independence
- Trains patient and family members in home treatment procedures
- Discharges patient from therapy when goals or projected outcomes have been attained; provides for appropriate follow-up care or referrals

Communication and Collaboration:
- Confers with patient, medical practitioners and appropriate others to plan, implement, and assess the treatment program
- Observes and reports patient’s responses to the referring medical practitioner
- Attends appropriate conferences or meetings pertaining to assigned patient

Training and Leadership:
- Trains and orients new employees and volunteers
- Supervises and trains assigned students and evaluates their performance in accordance with APTA guidelines
- Develops and presents in-service education classes
- Assists with organizational planning, and actively participates in the development and implementation of new programs, departmental performance improvement projects, community awareness programs, and projects that ensure the department remains compliant with all regulatory requirements

Equipment and Supplies:
- Evaluates and cares for braces, prosthesis, other active assistive devices and durable medical equipment
- Complies with procedures for maintenance of departmental supplies and equipment
- Assists in acquisition of durable medical equipment

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized school of physical therapy, or completion of a Physical Therapy program and one year relevant experience.
OR equivalent education and/or experience
- Current Washington State license to practice as a Physical Therapist.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION
- Demonstrated experience in pelvic health rehabilitation, pelvic floor rehabilitation, or pelvic girdle rehabilitation
