The Physical Therapist Assistant provides physical therapy treatments to a variety of diagnoses following therapy procedures, protocols, and programs. Communicates effectively with a primary therapist and works under general supervision. Provides physical therapy treatments to a variety of diagnoses following therapy procedures, protocols, and programs.

The Physical Therapist Assistant will assist with inventory control, clinic maintenance, and organization. Completes required documentation and communicates patient information across the continuum of care. Demonstrates competence in the UCSD Medical Center core values.

Depending on the experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Physical Therapist Assistant I or II level.

  • Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) issued by the state of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Possesses the ability to treat patients, follow an established plan of care and performvarious physical therapy treatments appropriate to acute care.

  • Ability to determine expected outcomes throughout the continuum of therapeutic intervention.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.

  • Be a self-starter who is accountable and requires minimal direction and supervision; a person who is open to new ideas; and a creative and flexible individual who is comfortable working in a large, complex organization.

  • Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment, and accountability.

  • One (1+) or more years of relevant experience.
  • Inpatient hospital experience.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $58,193 - $72,642 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.87 - $34.79

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
