The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time, 75% FTE Physical Therapist 3.

The University of Washington (UW) Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is a complex academic and clinical department in the School of Medicine and Affiliated Hospitals, which includes the UW Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, Seattle Children’s, Northwest Hospital, Valley Medical, and the VA Puget Sound. The Department offers four degree programs including entry-level degrees in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Prosthetics & Orthotics, and a PhD in Rehabilitation Science. There are also extensive research projects within the Department with over $13 million in grants per year. The Division of Physical Therapy (PT) has an outstanding opportunity for a 75% FTE PT3. This individual’s basic function in conjunction with faculty in the DPT program, will be to "team teach" various classes in the 1st and 2nd years of the DPT program. In this role, the individual will ensure students understand the concepts, techniques and all requirements for each technique/method demonstrated and taught. Using current methods of practical and written exams, the individual will ascertain with faculty that students are competent at the end of the various courses.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Teaching:
* Serve as teaching assistant for DPT students within various courses
* Receive and respond promptly to inquiries from students about the courses
* Assist to grade assignments and track progress of DPT students within the assigned courses
* Provide academic counsel to DPT students regarding course content and professional development
* Organize and coordinate aspects of courses as directed by the lead course instructor
* Perform other duties as required in collaboration with the lead instructor for the course

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized school of physical therapy or completion of a Physical Therapy program AND one year of experience as a Physical Therapist OR Equivalent education/experience
• Legal Requirement: Current Washington State license to practice as a Physical Therapist.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

DESIRED:

* Doctoral degree in physical therapy from an accredited school OR a post-professional Masters degree in a related area AND at least 4 years of experience in clinical practice including a team environment.
* Effective interpersonal skills to interact with diverse students and faculty in a team environment
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* High level tact, diplomacy, and analytical skills
* Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality
* Previous interaction within an academic environment
* Previous direct student or other type of clinical mentorship
