HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER – REHAB THERAPIES has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, day shift, PHYSICAL THERAPIST 2.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- HMC Inpatient rehabilitation unit is 28 bed unit serving patients with primary diagnoses such as of spinal cord injury, stroke, and traumatic brain injury.  This individual will assess, plan, administer, evaluate and provide safe physical therapy for a patient caseload ranging from routine to complex patient problems and situations.  This individual will also be responsible for progression of treatment goals and patient and family education and collaboration with other disciplines to coordinate continuity of patient care from admission to discharge.
•     Demonstrate working knowledge of the disease process, precautions, typical medical treatment and diagnostic procedures, functional, abilities, complications and implications of long term deficits related to primary diagnoses treated in service area.
•     Provide skilled, timely and effective patient care.
•     Follow protocols, standards and guidelines of care relating to specific diagnosis on assigned service.
•     Plan treatment programs with the patient and treatment team.
•     Document intervention and strategies for treatment in required organizational systems. Documentation is to include assessment, measurable criteria, goals method of treatment, home programs and adapting plan according to patient’s response to intervention.
•     Participate in team rounds and other educational information to patient and support systems prior to termination of therapy intervention.
•     Provide home programs and other educational information to patient and support systems prior to termination of therapy intervention.
•     Knowledge of other treatment team member’s roles with intervention and effective methods to collaborate in patient’s treatment.
•     Follow billing and reimbursement procedures.
•     Comply with agency and division standards, protocols procedures.
•     Participate in discipline and workgroup meetings.
•     Participate in Quality Assurance as it relates to patient care.
•     Articulate and integrate safety policies and procedures into daily practice.
•     Provide recommendations and justification for equipment needs of patients.
•     Work effectively with PTA. Assigns appropriate patients, supervises treatment plan, provides PTA with necessary information.
•     Instruct, assign work and evaluate students as assigned by supervisor.
•     Act as a resource within the physical therapy department for other health care professionals.
•     Provides education training to other physical therapy staff and health care professionals in areas of expertise within the physical therapy field.
- The department is team oriented and a dynamic workgroup willing to help each other. Values team communication, motivated to reach to a higher level of care for patients. Works closely with physicians, nurses and other disciplines who value Physical Therapy skills and their contributions to the team.

REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of Physical Therapy Program and current Washington State license to practice as a physical therapist. Possess physical ability to move patients and equipment.
OR
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Current Washington State license to practice as a physical therapist.
