Position Description:

The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician to join our team of faculty physiatrists as we expand our practice. This position involves outpatient care alongside the University of Iowa Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Surgical faculty within the Sports Medicine and Hand and Upper Extremity teams. This position will include management of patients with a variety of musculoskeletal disorders with a focus on the upper extremity. This position will also have sports team coverage expectations.


This is an exciting opportunity for an academic-oriented physiatrist with a variety of clinical interests. Clinical opportunities within the outpatient practice are broad, and can be developed around the candidate's interests, with possibilities for MSK, sports medicine, hand and upper extremity, orthobiologics, ultrasound, EMG, and other areas. This position also offers ample opportunities to participate in research and medical education.


This is a full-time position being offered at the tenure or clinical track level.

Education Requirement:

  • Candidates must hold an MD, DO or equivalent degree

  • The candidate must have graduated from a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency program.

  • The candidate must have graduated from an ACGME accredited Sports Medicine fellowship program.

Required Qualifications:

  • The candidate must be eligible for Iowa medical licensure.

  • Excellent clinical and academic credentials.

  • Experience working in a team setting.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A commitment to ongoing performance improvement.

  • Experience promoting a diverse workforce in an academic environment.

Certifications:

  • The candidate must be Board-certified or Board-eligible in both Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine.
