Summary of Job Duties:
The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor - Perioperative Pharmacy manages medication delivery, Interdepartmental Transfers, and purchasing from wholesalers/503b vendors. Specializes in par count for supply ordering, IV compounding, and cleanroom compliance. Utilizes reports for refilling automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis ES and Pyxis Anesthesia). Prioritizes tasks based on immediate needs and changing workloads, working as a team member to achieve departmental goals efficiently and accurately.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Four (4) years relevant pharmacy technician work experience (i.e. retail, hospital, etc.)
Competent in all areas and technician roles.
Working in a specialized roles - Automation, Controlled Substances, Pharmacy Buyer, IV Compounding, etc
Competent in all areas and technician roles
Pharmacy Technician License by the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy
National Technician Certification (PTCB)
One (1) year to obtain ASHP/ACPE accredited technician training or certificate program
Have considerable computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office and EMR experience)

Undergraduate degree
Good/Strong Math Skills.
Seven (7) years of relevant pharmacy technician experience in health-system pharmacy
Prior experience in specialty role
ASHP/ACPE accredited technician training or certified program (i.e. PTCB Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician, ASHP Sterile Compounding Certificate, etc.)
Knowledge of health-system pharmacy regulations/standards. Previous experience with data analysis and quality improvement. Knowledge of health-system medication safety initiatives

Responsibilities:
Processes STAT/NOW orders as soon as possible using Dispense Tracking
Use hospital wide EPIC system to track medication dispensing to unit
Packages Unit Dose medications accurately
Directing and coordinating the timely distribution of medications through quality improvement efforts, including the use of automated dispensing systems, to ensure safe patient care
Filling requests for controlled substances with absolute accuracy and precision in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Reconciling all distribution receipt/delivery records
Understanding and handling, “Hazardous Drugs” and follows all policies related to medication processing
Monitors and processes Pyxis Stock Outs as soon as possible. Notifies a pharmacist when medications are ready for checking
Filling crash carts using the Kitcheck system. Restock emergency boxes and trays
Assist with pharmacy automation via Robot and Med Carousel
Manage Pyxis inventory, including accurate selection and refilling of medication. Loading and unloading medication and resolving discrepancies
Understands how to operate all equipment (CII safe, Pyxis, load printers, fax machines).
Barcode and label products
Set inventory par levels
Perform “Tech check Tech” quality control regarding dispensing, cart fill, and pyxis
Maintains security of controlled substances.
Remove expired drugs from assigned areas monthly.
Perform IV sterile compounding under the direction of a pharmacist
Performs basic aseptic techniques and pharmaceutical calculation
May performs duties as assigned
