Pharmacy Technician - Keck Medicine of USC Specialty Pharmacy

USC's School of Pharmacy is accepting applications for a Pharmacy Technician at the USC Specialty Pharmacy.  This individual is responsible for distribution aspect of pharmacy operations. Activities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Order entry in dispensing software
  • Drug receipt, invoice/PO verification, assuring orderly stock
  • Order fulfillment
  • Order shipment
  • Shipment follow up, trouble shooting, error resolution
  • Ensuring sufficient shipping supply stock and maintaining organization in the shipping facility
  • Payment processing
  • Scheduling calls
  • Answering telephones and addressing patient concerns
  • Other tasks as assigned by management

Work that requires use of a computer keyboard for 80% of the day.

Work that involves exerting up to 25 lbs. of force to lift, carry, push or pull objects 5% of the day.

Minimum education: high school

Minimum experience: 2 years working at a community pharmacy

Minimum field of expertise: pharmacy technician license

Preferred knowledge: third party billing, Medicare Part B billing, prior authorizations, TARs

Preferred experience: specialty pharmacy, CernerEMR, NewLeaf dispensing software, cold chain shipping


Minimum Education: Specialized/technical training Minimum Experience: 1 year Minimum Field of Expertise: Completion of accredited pharmacy technician training program or equivalent experience as per Board of Pharmacy technician regulations, sec. 1793.4. Knowledge of pharmacy law, rules, regulations, pharmacology & medical terminology, manufacturing procedures. Valid Pharmacy Technician Certificate of Registration, State of California.
