Summary of Job Duties:

The Pharmacy Technician I/II/III supports the outpatient pharmacist with the preparation and delivery of medications to ambulatory patients or outpatient clinics. Duties supporting the outpatient pharmacy include but are not limited to operating the point of sale system, automated counting machines, working the filling queue within the dispensing software, as well as general phone or face-to-face customer service. Duties also included inventory cycle counts, receiving, and shipping. This position also supports bedside delivery on discharge, including patient education, enrollment, prescription processing/filling and delivery. The Pharmacy Technician I/II/III will work as a team member to efficiently, accurately perform day-to-day work along with any additional tasks or projects to help achieve departmental goals. According to the UAMS Pharmacy Technician Career Ladder, a Pharmacy Technician II/III may be assigned one of these specialized roles: automation, controlled substances, pharmacy buyer, investigational drugs, medication reconciliation, compounding specialist or WAM (retail) order entry, and may also support operations of the vaccine clinics.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Arkansas Pharmacy Technician Registration

Preferred:

  • National Technician Certification (PTCB)
  • Specialized Certification (i.e. Sterile Compounding Certification, Immunization Administration Certification, 340B Certification, etc.)
  • 1 year pharmacy technician experience relevant to retail pharmacy
