The University of Miami Health System at Doral has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Pharmacy Technician 3 with a hire date of May 2024.

The University of Miami Health System will soon open the second phase to our state-of-the-art facility in Downtown Doral that serves as a western hub for our distinguished regional network of ambulatory services. This 160,000 square foot expansion will continue to bring world-class academic medicine, cutting-edge technology, and innovative treatment options to the rapidly growing Doral community.  UHealth at Doral will have services through the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and the Desai Sethi Urology Institute, as well as specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, dermatology, and more. The expansion will provide residents with innovative, specialized medical services in the heart of their community.  Once complete, UHealth at Doral will have 8 operating rooms, 3 endoscopy procedure rooms, 33 cancer treatment bays, over 60 multidisciplinary exam rooms, and supporting ancillary services like imaging, lab, and respiratory therapy. UHealth at Doral will open in September, 2024 .

SUMMARY

The Pharmacist Technician 3 prepares medications for patients under the guidance of a pharmacist.   Assists the Pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions, price-checking, and restocking of drugs, in addition to hazardous or other advanced level compounding. 

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information and maintains patient records. Fills orders and prepares labels for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals. Implements inventory control procedures and ordering supplies within regulatory guidelines. Anticipates pharmacy medication dispensing needs.     Responsible for hazardous, specialized, or advanced level compounding, which may include chemotherapy, epidural, ophthalmology, CADD pumps, and TPNs.  Serves as a Pharmacy Technician Coordinator, as needed. May also be cross trained in major department roles and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician.  Participates in a temporary taskforce/short-term committee. Resolves problems related to prescription inquiries.  Performs the preceptor role in the training of students and onboarding of new pharmacy technicians. Serves as a mentor or role model. Stays abreast of advanced knowledge and proficient practice in pharmacy dispensing, medication dispensing systems, controlled substance distribution to floors, pre-packing and any other pharmacy technician duties.   Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

High school diploma or equivalent

State of FL registration

Experience:

Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
