Description

Under the general supervision of the Associate Chief Pharmacy Officer of Ambulatory Pharmacy, the Supervisor of APCIP and Special Projects will be responsible for providing direct supervision to pharmacists and certified, licensed, and skilled technical employees. In addition to, you will be responsible for the implementation, development, and oversight of ambulatory pharmacy projects. You must demonstrate leadership qualities to partner across multiple units in an enterprise to develop and implement new workflows that are beneficial to the patient, institution, and healthcare professionals alike. You will function as an advisor to the department and Pharmacy leadership, analyze and resolve problems, develop, interpret and implement policies (e.g., operational, management, HR, resource management in defined areas), and demonstrate expert subject matter knowledge (e.g., regulatory, operational and clinical). You will exercise judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. You will work on development of special projects/new workflows and implementation with designated staff. These workflows include the Advanced Pharmacist Clinical Intervention Program amongst others. You will supervise staff assigned to the new workflows to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives. You will be responsible in ensuring implementation of the new projects in an efficient, smooth, and safe operation within the practice area. Duties include but are not limited to: • Participating in the interviews and recommending who should be hired • Independently determining Pharmacy Staff direct reports’ performance ratings or recommendations on performance ratings • Making recommendations on who will be selected for promotional opportunities, and whether to request the reclassification of a position • Have independent authority to issue written warnings and suspensions and determines what discipline should be imposed upon a subordinate OR recommends such actions • Has independent authority to resolve grievances or complaints or formulates and recommends a resolution to grievances or complaints Annual Salary Range: $116,500 – $282,300



  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Pharmacy • Current California Pharmacy licensure • BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross • Outpatient: Pharmacy Based Immunization Delivery with applied practice • Pharm.D. or BS in Pharmacy from accredited School of Pharmacy • 3+ years of leadership experience • 5 years of pharmacist experience • At least one applicable pharmacy specialty board certification (Preferred) • Maintain availability to support Ambulatory operational needs with a variable shift • Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, abbreviations, medical terminology, drug trade and generic names, and drug dosage forms. • Skill in operating a computer used to access patient medication records, nursing messages, dispensing process and email communications. • Ability to perform appropriate telephone etiquette (answers by indicating practice area and name) and takes accurate messages. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external staff. • Ability to read, understand, and interpret medical, pharmaceutical references and current scientific literature. • Ability to speak on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and relay information, resolve problems, explain policies and procedures, and negotiate/recommendation alternative medication therapy. • Ability to accurately perform pharmaceutical calculations. Knowledge of metric system units in order to calculate quantity of drug to order based on dose and dosing schedule. • Knowledge of and ability to perform age specific (e.g., neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric) and disease specific pharmacokinetic calculations. • Skill in performing under the stress of frequent interruptions and/or distraction. Skill in working independently and mastering workflows and assignments with minimal supervision or instruction. Works all operational shifts including nights, weekends and holidays, as assigned. • Shows a high level of mastering the different workflows within the retail space/ meds to beds, specialty, retail and mail order • Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workload and under the pressure of patient care deadlines. • Ability to train, orient and mentor newly hired, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, support staff, pharmacy students, residents and modified duty staff. • Skill in maintaining drug distribution workflow smoothly and in a timely manner to provide the right medications to the right patient at the right time. • Ability to walk, reach, bend, lift 25 lbs., push 50 lbs., and carry various items weighing up to fifty pounds and count product above and below waist level. (Preferred) • Demonstrates knowledge and adherence to Infection Control and Environment of Care guidelines and procedures.
