Pay Grade/Pay Range:  Minimum: $101,900 - Midpoint: $142,700 (Salaried E15)


Department/Organization: 201106 - SHC-Pharmacy


Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; some evenings & weekends.


Job Summary: The Pharmacy Services Manager assists with oversight and daily operations of the Student Health Center (SHC) Pharmacy under the guidance of the Director of Pharmacy Services.


Additional Department Summary: Manages accurate and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical services to UA students, faculty, and staff. Fills prescriptions, dispenses medications, and counsel patients regarding medications. Supervises staff and delegates duties when the Director is unavailable. Provides guidance and training to build an efficient and effective pharmacy team, and promotes a strong culture of integrity and responsibility. Assists in training of new staff and periodic employee performance evaluations. Oversees pharmacy procurement and inventory. Manages all aspects of pharmacy software systems. Maintains inventory logs, generates reports, and assists with routine audit functions as needed. Serves as liaison to various UA partners and other CCHS departments, including clinical departments and enterprise departments such as Finance, Health IT, Reception, Lab, etc. Maintains strictest confidentiality. Adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in pharmacy and six (6) years of pharmacy experience. Valid/current state Alabama Pharmacy License. Alabama Controlled Substances Certificate (ACSC) and United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License or qualified to apply for one.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.


Skills and Knowledge: Ability to monitor quality control standards. Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports. Skills in developing and maintaining effective relationships with staff, providers, patients, and regulators. Skills in organizing work to achieve department goals and objectives. Proficient in the use of personal computers, standard application software, and pharmacy software systems. Excellent organizational and effective written and verbal communication skills. Excellent customer service skills, ability to communicate with respect, situational awareness, and sensitivity. Ability to cope with stressful conditions. Ability to demonstrate tact, versatility, and adaptability. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and directional initiative. Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making. Ability to maintain strict confidentially of protected health information and follow HIPAA regulations at all times.


Preferred Qualifications: Supervisory experience to include oversight of pharmacy staff employees.
