Manages the OU Tulsa Pharmacy and facilitates the advancement of community pharmacy through the development and implementation of student rotations. Responsible for overseeing the daily business operations of a pharmacy to include but not limited to dispensing prescription medication and advising patients.

Duties:

  • Establishes and coordinates distributive and pharmaceutical care activities in the Pharmaceutical Care Center.  
  • Verifies prescription details with the healthcare providers who prescribed them. Prepares drugs and executes prescription orders.  
  • Advises customers about the recommended use, dosage, and possible side-effects of medication. 
  • Addresses customers¿ requests and complaints.
  • Enforces best practice protocols when storing prescription drugs and controlled substances. 
  • Orders pharmacy supplies and controls the inventory on a daily basis. 
  • Maintains an approved drug and controlled substances list and verifies expiration dates. Keeps records for the purchase, sale, delivery, possession, storage, and safekeeping of drugs. Inventories controlled drug inventory.  
  • Implements the use of the latest technologies in the Pharmaceutical Care Center.
  • Works with community pharmacists to develop and enhance pharmaceutical care in community pharmacy practice within the State of Oklahoma.
  • Provides appropriate continuing pharmaceutical education programming so as to enhance knowledge, skills, and abilities of interested practitioners.
  • Develops learning environments that facilitate the delivery of pharmacy practice experiences compatible with the goals and objectives of the doctor of pharmacy curriculum.
  • Supervises pharmacy staff to include hiring, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
 

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD AND:

  • 24 months experience as a Pharmacist or 24 months residency.

Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of protocols regulating the safe storage of prescription drugs and controlled substances.
  • Knowledge of the pharmacological uses and side effects of prescription drugs and controlled substances.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with customers and managing employees. 
  • Ability to proactively follow up any irregularities with prescriptions processed at the pharmacy.
  • Ability to use pharmacy management software.

Certifications:

  • Licensed as a Pharmacist by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy. Oklahoma Preceptor's License or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Physical: Standing for long periods of time. Speaking and listening. Reaching, stooping, walking, and bending.
  • Environmental: Pharmacy Environment. Exposure to infectious diseases and chemicals.
