Pharmacy Manager (Mays Cancer Center)

Job Summary:

Manages the pharmacy program, including the drug formulary, drug information systems, pharmaceutical contracting, and staff supervision in a manner that will assure a consistently cost effective and quality pharmacy program.

Job Duties:

  • Manages and coordinates the overall operations of pharmacy services and personnel in accordance with all federal and state laws related to the storage, compounding and distribution of pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Develops and maintains written policies and procedures for pharmacy services in keeping with state, federal and University rules and regulations.
  • Aligns and maintains effective processes and workflows.
  • Provides leadership and expertise to pharmacy staff including: clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and support staff.
  • Management duties include interviewing, selecting and training of employees; planning and directing their work; appraising their productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in their status; handling their complaints and grievances and disciplining them when necessary.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy is required.

Experience:

Five (5) years of experience working in a pharmacy, including at least three years in a supervisory capacity is required.

Additional Licenses and Certifications :

Current TX state license to practice pharmacy, or eligible for licensure is required.
