THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE, TN. 

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy seeks nominations and applications for a Department of Clinical Pharmacy faculty position at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor for the Knoxville campus. This position is a full-time, non-tenure-track appointment and will be available on or before July 1, 2024. 

Typical responsibilities of the position are summarized below:

Teaching: (40%) Teach and coordinate courses in the PharmD curriculum, lead small group courses, deliver didactic lectures and team-based discussions, and perform other tasks as assigned by the Department Chair or designee. Serve as a Medicine APPE preceptor for PharmD students. Serve as a preceptor and mentor for PGY1 and PGY2 pharmacy residents, with the opportunity to serve as the Residency Program Director for the Pharmacotherapy
Residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

Scholarship: (10%) Develop an active program of scholarship including leading to peer-reviewed publications annually. Seek and apply for external funding. Presentations at national, regional, and local meetings are expected.

Service: (10%) Participate in College, Department, and University/Campus committees as directed by the Department Chair or designee and serve in an advisory role to student groups or functions. Serve on University of Tennessee Medical Center committees or councils, and participate in pharmacy residency recruitment and interviews, as appropriate.

Patient Care: (40%) Provide clinical service within the integrated decentralized pharmacy service at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. This position provides care for patients on the inpatient Family Medicine service at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville TN in partnership with another fulltime College of Pharmacy faculty member.

 



Qualifications

 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Successful applicants will hold a PharmD degree and have completed PGY1 and PGY2 (specialized) residencies or a fellowship
    or have equivalent training or experience in their area of expertise.
  • Applicants with 3-5 years of experience as faculty members and those with professional experience in family medicine or internal medicine will be given preferential consideration.
  • Candidates must be eligible for pharmacy licensure in Tennessee.
  • The applicants should demonstrate excellence in written and oral communication, clinical skills, and teaching.
  • Experience in the classroom and small group teaching and precepting pharmacy students is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce scholarly activity in an academic setting in the form of peer-reviewed publications is important.
  • Board certification or eligibility for board certification is preferred.
