ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
Student Health and Wellness Center (SHWC) is a primary care medical clinic for USF students. Physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses provide medical evaluation and care by appointment. Specialty services include, sexual health & gynecology, dermatology, behavioral health, sports medicine, travel medicine and antigen clinic. Pharmacy and Lab services are available on site. We also assist students with immunization and insurance compliance, and administer the student health insurance plan.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Requesting the creation of Pharmacist Staff position as the staff pharmacist will assist the Pharmacy Manager with Pharmacy operations. This position plans and organizes activities involving the compounding, dispensing, counseling and analyses of drugs prescribed for patients, while helping oversee Pharmacy students and technicians. Staff Pharmacist adhere to all policies and procedures necessary to maintain successful licensure as a community Pharmacist and complies with all federal regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs pharmacist tasks including drug therapy reviews, verification and medication management. Reviews, interprets and accurately dispenses prescribed medications. Ensures the use of all elements of the Good Faith Dispensing Policy in conjunction with State and Federal controlled substance laws when filling prescriptions. Pharmacist has the ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the elements of Good Faith are present.
Answers questions and provides information to patient on drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage of medications and over-the counter products. Engages patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and service. Counsels patients and answers their question regarding usage of medication, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generics, less expensive medications, over-the-counter products, and refers to medical
provider as needed.
Ensures the accurate processing of insurance claims to resolve patient's issue(s) and prevent payment rejections. Follows-up with insurance companies as well as medical providers and participates in 3rd party audit.
Recordkeeping/Inventory Management: Maintains reports for controlled, outdated and recalled medications. Enforces compliance with all local, state and federal laws, university policies and state regulations regarding intern, pharmacy technician licensure. Maintains all state and federal record keeping for legend drugs and controlled substances. Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste
documents. Assays medications to determine identity, purity and strength.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM  QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Active licensure as a pharmacist in accordance with Chapter 645, Florida Statutes. One year of outpatient pharmacy experience
PREFERRED:
Active Pharmacist licensure in accordance with Chapter 465, Florida Statutes and one year of work-related experience. Graduate of a school of pharmacy (Pharm.D. degree preferred)
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
Active Licensure as a Pharmacist in accordance to Chapter 465, Florida Statues, and one year of Pharmacy experience
