The intern outpatient pharmacist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Ca is responsible for the development and utilization of skills required in drug distribution and in the provision of clinical services in an institutional setting under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. The intern pharmacist is also responsible for general Pharmacy Technician responsibilities, including the preparation, distribution and control of sterile and non-sterile oral and injectable medications and participation in departmental programs. All duties are performed independently by the intern pharmacist under the supervision of a pharmacist.


Education required:

  • Pharmacy student enrolled at an accredited school of pharmacy.

License required:

  • Registered as an Intern Pharmacist with the California State Board of Pharmacy.
  • BLS certification as outlined in the Pharmacist Responsibilities in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(C.P.R.) and Code Blue Procedure: Pharmacy Policy and Procedure.

Physical demands:

  • Physical Requirements (physical abilities essential to perform the job):
  • Frequent standing; walking, bending; reaching, occasional sitting, pushing & pulling, lifting of materials up to 40 pounds for distances to 10 feet.
  • Responsiveness to auditory alarms and communication devices including: telephones, beepers, fire alarms, and mechanical failure alarms.
  • Sufficient mobility to access equipment, patients and other customers.
  • Able to read information on medication labels
  • Work Environment (work environments, hazards and exposures that may be encountered on the job):
  • Exposure to minimal but constant noise levels.
  • Repetitive hand motions.
  • Some functions may include incidental exposure to hazards associated with preparation of hazardous medications.
  • Some functions may require use of personal protective equipment.
  • Use of standard precautions for infection control.
