Summary of Job Duties:

A Pharmacist III will supervise, direct, coordinate and provide first line administrative and technical functions for our front line personnel including pharmacists, technicians, volunteers, and students. The person in this position is considered an operational supervisor of the pharmacy and handles the day to day operation of the pharmacy. Interacts with healthcare staff outside of pharmacy to ensure good workflow and working relationships. Pharmacist III may work online based on department need to help with day-to-day dispensing functions, tasks and job duties to provide timely and efficient patient services. They will assist with maintaining, changing, and implementing new workflows, technology/automation, and process improvement projects. A Pharmacist III will assist personnel with human resource functions. They provide leadership and assistance for developing appropriate training, education, and competencies for employees and rotation students. This position will promote staff engagement and great customer service. They will also represent the department by serving on committees and attending meetings as assigned.
The person in this position is responsible for prioritizing the workload and making sure that the technician(s), student(s), and pharmacist (s) perform work in the order that best accommodates the workload. A pharmacist III works with minimal supervision to assess, prepare, dispense and assist in coordinating all day-to-day dispensing functions. They are expected to utilize their knowledge, skills and clinical judgment to provide effective and safe patient care. They will report adverse drug events and medication safety events, and will document interventions in the medical record. The pharmacist will have frequent communication with other healthcare professionals as a drug information resource and provide educational information to ensure great patient care.
A Pharmacist III will be expected to serve in various leadership roles to support the goals and vision of the service line by being involved with various committees and attending professional meetings as assigned. They will assist pharmacy management with precepting pharmacy students and residents. This position will promote staff engagement and continued learning through continued education presentations and departmental in-services. The pharmacist will assist in designing and implementing process improvements throughout the department.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:


  • BS in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.

  • Five (5) years of applicable experience with advanced skills.

  • Certification as a licensed Registered Pharmacist by the State of Arkansas or eligible for licensure by the State of Arkansas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy with a Pharm.D.

  • Advanced degree – (MS, MBA, MHA, MPA, etc.) and/or completion of a general or administrative ASHP-accredited residency.

  • Prior supervisory or personnel management experience.

  • Board certification or equivalent accredited certification/credentials in a related field.
