Position Summary
The PhD Program Manager advises students, recruits students, and promotes student success, retention, and progression to graduation.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Advise students on academic matters, including degree offerings, course and degree requirement, university/college processes and procedures, academic issues and progression to graduation. Assist students with course registration process, drop/add and course or university withdrawal processes.
  • Provides individualized student outreach to students based on identified risk factors including academic, financial and socio-economic; assisting them in developing individual plans for success. Provides academic coaching and support for students on an ongoing basis.
  • Assists with recruitment activities and outreach, meets with prospective students, represents the department at orientation, commencement and other events.
  • Organize and maintain files, respond to inquiries, coordinate incoming and outgoing communications. Maintain electronic files for student statistics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Working Conditions


Regular office environment with hybrid flexibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education, higher education or similar field with three to five years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of Advising best practices.
  • Detailed knowledge of transfer requirements with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate student records and transcripts.
  • Working knowledge of enrollment management and retention best practices and the ability to apply them to a university environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of curriculum for degree programs.
  • Working knowledge of federal regulations such as Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Americans with Disability ACT (ADA) as it relates to student accommodation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to explain academic policies and procedures to diverse constituents, including students, faculty and staff.

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and three years of related experience.

Salary Range
$47,300.00 - $78,200.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
