Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s (LBNL ) Biosciences Division has an opening for a PET Technologist to join the team.

In this exciting role, you will work in the Molecular Biophysics and Integrated Bioimaging division to provide high-level research support to the scientific project focused on Human Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Imaging and will play an integral role in the research by providing critical research data. You will also function independently utilizing high-level expertise and substantial knowledge of nuclear medicine technologies, imaging technologies, and working with human subjects in research studies. All work is performed under the broad and general guidance of the Principal Investigator (PI). You will also contribute to publications. 

 

What You Will Do:

  • Perform PET/CT Imaging studies for human subjects research
  • Insert intravenous catheters and inject radiopharmaceuticals
  • Schedule/screen research subjects for PET/CT studies
  • Perform quality control procedures 
  • Responsible for overall radiation safety in the lab and documentation of adherence to safety regulations
  • Obtain informed consent from research participants
  • Overall responsibility for human subjects/regulatory aspects of studies. This includes:
  • maintaining research protocols
  • submitting complex paperwork for new and continuing reviews
  • modifying protocols with amendments
  • maintaining adequate logs of all human subjects work
  • Collecting and archiving PET/CT data 

 

Additional Responsibilities as needed:

  • Participate in training of new staff as needed
  • May lead others on projects of moderate complexity

 

What is Required:

  • 3 to 6 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated competency in Nuclear Medicine Imaging with PET/CT experience
  • Demonstrated competency with phlebotomy and starting intravenous catheters
  • Substantial knowledge of the use of radioactivity in medical procedures
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • NMTCB (CNMT) or ARRT (N)
  • Post primary certification in CT:
    • NMTCB(CT) or ARRT (CT)
  • State of CA Department of Health Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist 

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant field
  • Experience with human subjects research.

 

Notes:

  • This is a full-time, career appointment, exempt (monthly paid) from overtime pay.

  • Work will be primarily performed at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, 1 Cyclotron Road, Berkeley, CA.
