Position Summary: 

The Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is an expert in the management of the breastfeeding mother-baby dyad. Functions as a coach, consultant, teacher and lactation expert.  As a consultant, she works collaboratively with the L&D, Mother-Baby, NICU, and Pediatric team to develop feeding plans for a range of infants from the normal newborn to the complex neonate.  Performs clinical assessment, and uses current lactation theories and research to develop evidence-based feeding plans that address individual feeding issues while respecting the physician’s and family’s breastfeeding goals. Is responsible for designing, promoting, and evaluating the patient lactation support and education.  Will apply the nursing process in providing patient and family education in the inpatient and outpatient setting and will participate in the assessment, implementation and evaluation of staff education programs.  Will assess, implement and evaluated plan of care for patients with complex breastfeeding issues.  Is able to work independently in inpatient and outpatient settings.

Salary Range: 

Hourly Rate  Minimum   $77.11                  Midpoint    $77.11               Maximum $77.11

 

Required Qualifications:

Current certification by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Minimum 2 years demonstrated nursing experience in clinical lactation support to patients

Excellent teaching, verbal and written communication skills

All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing                                                                               

Current NRP certification

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Licensed Registered Nurse

Current BLS certification

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

BSN Degree

Previous NICU experience
