Job Description

Works closely and collaboratively with business functional users to understand/comprehend business requirements; performs analysis, system support, modification development and testing of PeopleSoft applications to ensure ongoing operational  efficiency while delivering against requested/needed modifications/enhancements.

Essential Duties

  • Works with business users to troubleshoot problems, research solutions, and implement fixes related to the PeopleSoft Applications.
  • Provides technical analysis to support requested modifications from business/functional users.
  • Converts business use cases into detailed requirements for developers.
  • Works closely with users to gather requirements, develop code and/or other technical solutions and
  • tests application enhancements/fixes to implement requests in accordance with user specifications.
  • Develops code and/or other technical solutions to implement requested enhancements.
  • May prepare documentation to support system code, design and testing procedures and documentation.
  • Identifies system or process performance issues and assists with system tuning; Investigates PeopleSoft functional capabilities to assist business users or other developers.
  • Provides support and develops reports as needed.
  • Performs research, including conferring with PeopleSoft/Oracle, to resolve technical questions and
  • problems related to the PeopleSoft ERP Applications.
  • Prepares reports summarizing findings, alternatives, and recommendations as they relate to essential functions.
  • Confers with other Financial Aid, Enrollment Services and Enterprise Technology personnel to resolve a variety of issues/concerns including, but not limited to: 
  • program content
  • input/output requirements
  • procedural and technical matters
  • Prepares, promotes and adheres to written procedures, system specifications, programming guidelines, and other necessary documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

'Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar with seven (7) years' experience working with PeopleTools & PeopleSoft applications OR equivalent combination of education & experience.


Desired Qualifications

Experience in:

  • PeopleTools Application Developer
  • PeopleTools Application Engine and PIA page design Engine
  • Integration Broker; Mulesoft
  • Oracle PL-SQL database performance tuning. Familiarity with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions data structures, particularly in the Financial Aid modules. 
  • PeopleSoft PIA page design using both the legacy and Fluid user interface paradigms.
  • Working with regulatory-driven processes and business processes.
  • Working with higher education or public sector software systems.
  • Working in Agile or Agile-lite software development environments. 
  • Jira/Confluence

Working Environment

  • This is a fully remote position with the option of either local or, upon state location approval, possible out-of-state arrangements.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties.

Financial Aid and Scholarship Services is one of several departments comprising Academic Enterprise Enrollment which utilizes a variety of strategies to enroll and support a diverse student population representative of Arizona State University's vision.  The Financial Aid and Scholarship Services unit strives to provide excellent customer service with the goal to make each student's application for financial aid a simple and affordable process.  Each staff member is committed to helping a student finance their education by effectively utilizing scholarships, grants, work-study and loans.  The unit provides tools to help determine the cost of attending ASU, including a scholarship portal to search for available scholarships.  The department also provides resources for student to use to budget their money and a student employment unit which processes department requests for student workers.
