What You Will Do

 

Use your skills and subject matter expertise to develop and lead a team of employees that implement and oversee the Laboratory’s leadership development, and organizational development strategy. Los Alamos National Laboratory is looking for an outstanding Human Resources People and Organization Development Manager to enhance the programs, build strategy and deliver on practical consulting and initiatives to improve the organizational culture that support the institutional mission.

 

Reporting to the Human Resources Division Leader, the Manager (Group-level manager) is responsible for management and leadership development programs at all levels to improve effectiveness, including utilization of leadership assessments (e.g., 360 degree assessments, leadership focused personality assessments, and upward feedback sessions), communication strategy, collaboration and partnership across institutions, advisement on change management and engagement, overseeing institutional succession planning programs, mentoring program development, career planning, performing organizational studies; including cultural assessments, team dynamics assessments, and position papers. Minimum Job Requirements:

 

Leadership

Demonstrated experience managing and providing leadership for a team of professionals for an extremely dynamic organization, including organizational development, leadership development, leadership assessment, institutional succession planning, change management, and ensuring a diverse, inclusive, safe, and secure work environment for direct staff.

 

Organization and Leadership Development

Expert-level knowledge of leadership development theories, principles, and related practices. Demonstrated experience implementing talent management and organizational development programs in large complex organizations; to include management and leadership development, succession planning programs. Experience in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions and recommending solutions to problems affecting related programs, strategy and administration.

 

Strategic Collaboration and Facilitation

Advanced experience interacting with senior managers, executives, peers and other customers fostering effective working relationships and communication strategy, including demonstrated ability to consult, influence or gain acceptance in sensitive or complex situations with supportive relationships. Advanced experience and skill in session facilitation and presentations.

 

Metrics

Advanced experience developing, charting, and reporting program/project metrics, including the ability to develop and administer budgets, schedules, and performance standards for an organizational unit, as well as use data to build cases for necessary change, measure progress, and demonstrate success and effectiveness of programs and strategy.

 

Education and Years of Relevant Experience

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum five years of related management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Desired Skills:

 

Additional Education and Credentials

A graduate degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or Human Resource Development, coaching credential from International Coach Federation or similar governing bodies, and certifications in psychometrically valid instruments, including Hogan, DiSC, Benchmark 360-degree instruments and other assessment tools are highly desirable.

 

Federal/DOE

Experience in the Federal sector and/or DOE/NNSA nuclear complex and/or knowledge of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) structural organization, history, and culture.

 

Clearance

Active DOE “Q” or other Top Secret clearance.

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States.  Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level).  Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter.

 

*Eligibility requirements:  To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served at least one year of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the one year of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
