Texas Children's Hospital-North Austin Campus presents a clear and compelling opportunity to extend Texas Children's Hospital's mission to a large and growing population of children and women, helping to deliver regional coordination of care that is synergistic to the core services offered at our Texas Medical Center campus in Houston, TX. The North Austin Hospital (opened in 2024) is a state-of-the-art facility with a growing inpatient capacity, Level IV NICU (currently expanding), PICU, and a large adjacent outpatient specialty center, providing comprehensive pediatric and maternal services to Central Texas families, supported by an integrated medical record, robust ancillary services, and seamless access to the broader Texas Children's network. Summary
Baylor College of Medicine, in partnership with Texas Children's Hospital, is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Pediatric Nephrologist to join our growing Nephrology program at the North Austin Campus, to promote the mission, vision and goals of the Renal Division, Department of Pediatrics, Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital. Academic rank and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Job Duties
Clinic Role:
- Provide safe, timely, effective, and efficient patient care at TCH North Austin Campus; Care may also be provided at TCH TMC Campus, TCH-West Campus and TCH-Woodlands Campus.
- Provide clinical leadership to medical and nursing staff.
- Role model ethical and professional behavior with every interaction.
- Supervise and educate medical and nursing staff when appropriate in the care of nephrology patients.
- Promote and practice evidence-based medicine (EBM).
- Participate in quality improvement processes.
- Facilitate communication with referring physicians and promote outreach strategies.
- Serve on appropriate committees for clinical programs and strategic growth in community locations.
Academic Role:
- Mentorship of renal fellows, residents, and medical students.
- Promote the academic mission of BCM and TCH in terms of research and scholarly activity.
- Represent BCM and TCH at local, regional and national gatherings.
Continuing Professional Development:
- Participate in continuing professional development activities to maintain personal knowledge and skills as appropriate (e.g. section sponsored activities, continuing medical education as well as maintenance of certification requirements for the American Board of Pediatrics).
- Participate in local, regional, and national quality improvement committees.
- Stay current in nephrology literature.
Education:
- Develop educational material and programs that focus on improving health care competence of patients and families.
- Develop educational program for fellows to promote community-based nephrology.
Minimum Qualifications
- M.D. (or equivalent), ACGME Accredited Residency in Pediatrics and Fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology. Candidate must be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology
Minimum Certification/Licenses/Registration:
- Licensed or Eligible to be licensed by the Texas Medical Board
