Pediatrics - Nephrology Clinical Faculty

Updated: about 2 months ago
Location: Los Angeles, CALIFORNIA

The Department of Pediatrics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is seeking candidates for a full-time pediatric nephrology faculty position.  Pediatric nephrology services at Cedars-Sinai offer leading-edge therapies. Our team is at the forefront of research in pediatric kidney diseases, with robust ongoing studies in both general nephrology and kidney transplant. We are leading the charge to improve medications, diagnostics and technology for our young patients, and our program takes full advantage of the collaborative opportunities available at Cedars-Sinai to provide the best possible care to children.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • providing overnight and weekend coverage of the inpatient and consult nephrology services
  • a strong commitment to teaching and education of medical students, pediatric residents, pediatric nephrology fellows, as well as other members of the multidisciplinary team
  • Involvement in research

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is advancing an ambitious vision for children’s healthcare, thanks to the generosity of the Shapell Guerin Family Foundation and its president, Vera Guerin.  Propelled by this historic $100 million gift, the largest lifetime gift in Cedars-Sinai 119-year history, Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s will fill a critical gap in care for young patients in Los Angeles and beyond.  It will provide primary and specialty care for patients as they grow from newborns to adolescents to adults. Guerin Children’s is also going to build on Cedars-Sinai’s already robust care in pediatrics and labor and delivery.

In addition to current pediatric intensive care beds and neonatal intensive care beds, the hospital has renovated an inpatient space with 26 beds. Ophir Klein, MD, PhD, an internationally recognized innovator in pediatrics and genetics, has been named as the inaugural director of Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s, as well as the David and Meredith Kaplan Distinguished Chair in Children’s Health.
