The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), College of Medicine and LeBonheur Children's Hospital are seeking a Chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery in the UTHSC Department of Surgery.

The successful applicant will lead a highly established team of 7-8 surgeons and will be responsible for oversight of all aspects of the Division and will lead initiatives in facilitating clinical growth and quality, academic productivity, and enhancement of patient satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will be at the Associate Professor/Professor level, hold an M.D degree or equivalent, be board certified in General Surgery/Pediatric Surgery and be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Tennessee.

The successful applicant will possess an established record of strong leadership skills, integrity, clinical excellence, research accomplishments and a commitment to diversity.

The candidate will have a demonstrated history of achievements in academics including the education of medical students, residents and/or fellows. Outstanding research accomplishments including success in obtaining external peer-reviewed funding would be viewed favorably. 

Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., is a 255-bed state- of-the-art hospital that serves as a primary teaching affiliate for the University Tennessee Health Science Center and trains more than 350 physicians each year. Nationally recognized, Le Bonheur is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a Best Children's Hospital and is an American College of Surgeons-verified Level I Trauma Center. The Division oversees accredited fellowship training programs in Pediatric Surgery and Pediatric Surgical Critical Care.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Must have an M.D degree or equivalent
