Position Summary
UNC Children’s and the UNC School of Medicine’s Department of Neurosurgery are seeking a full-time, open-rank, faculty member to join our thriving Pediatric Neurosurgery program.
The practice covers the entire scope of Pediatric Neurosurgery, and the ideal candidate will have a broad range of clinical care interests in Pediatric Neurosurgery while intending to advance areas of special interest. Active programs in fetal myelomeningocele repair, epilepsy, neuro-oncology, and craniofacial reconstruction continue to grow. The ideal candidate will have a dedication to resident education and academically advancing the field of Pediatric Neurosurgery.
North Carolina Children’s Hospital is the major referral center for all children in North Carolina and is consistently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of America’s Best Children’s Hospitals on its annual list. N.C. Children’s Hospital is a 150-bed, Level I Pediatric Trauma Center on the UNC Medical Center campus. There is a 65-bed Level 4 NICU and 20-bed PICU.
UNC physicians work hand-in-hand with community hospitals and pediatricians all across the state, providing specialty care to approximately 200,000 children from all 100 counties in North Carolina each year. Pediatric Neurosurgery has regular outreach clinics in the UNC Pediatric Clinic in Raleigh, Wilmington, and weekly clinics in Chapel Hill.
Located in Chapel Hill, the University of North Carolina is in one of the fastest-growing areas of the country known locally as the Triangle. With affordable housing and access to top-tier education from grade school through college, the Triangle is a great place to call home. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
An M.D./D.O. is required for this position.
Candidates will be fellowship trained in Pediatric Neurosurgery and board certified or board eligible in both adult and pediatric neurosurgery and have practiced for at three full years following their fellowship.

The School of Medicine and UNC Health Care is committed to growing its Pediatric Neurosurgery program and seeks a candidate with both clinical and research interests to contribute to that effort.
