Job Summary:

The Division of Cardiology within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting a Pediatric Cardiologist to join our growing team. We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience.
The Mission of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is to maintain excellence in clinical care, education, and research. The division recognizes that excellence in pediatric cardiovascular medicine and surgery requires a well-coordinated team approach to care. Important contributors to divisional activities include physicians (pediatric specialists in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, critical care medicine, anesthesiology and perfusion, and high-risk obstetricians), nurse practitioners, registered nurses, echocardiography technicians, exercise physiologists, and our patients, their families, and their referring physicians. We strive for excellence in service and clarity in communication with our patients' families and with their physicians.
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is a vibrant academic department comprising more than 200 faculty members in 16 subspecialty divisions. The department promotes and enhances the health of children through outstanding clinical care, exemplary education of pediatric trainees, performance of cutting-edge research, and vigorous advocacy. Responsibilities:

For appointments hired on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) Track:
- Provide patient care at American Family Children's Hospital and participating outreach locations. Clinical responsibilities include general pediatric cardiology care including ambulatory and inpatient care, non-invasive diagnostic study interpretations, and transthoracic and trans-esophageal echocardiography performance.
- Carry out independent research/scholarly activity in an area of interest to the candidate and the
division.
- Teach to a variety of learners, including medical students, residents, and fellows. Teaching can occur within the classroom, small groups, and lectures, as well as in the delivery of clinical care.
For appointments hired on the Clinician-Teacher (CT) Track:
- Provide patient care at American Family Children's Hospital and participating outreach locations. Clinical responsibilities include general pediatric cardiology care including ambulatory and inpatient care, non-invasive diagnostic study interpretations, and transthoracic and trans-esophageal echocardiography performance.
- Teach to a variety of learners, including medical students, residents, and fellows. Teaching can occur within the classroom, small groups, and lectures, as well as in the delivery of clinical care.
An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
This vacancy is being announced as either CHS or CT Track. Having two tracks posted into this vacancy listing allows the School of Medicine and Public Health to consider clinical teacher faculty candidates with or without research credentials for this non-tenure-track position. CHS Track duties may consist of dedicated FTE time for scholarly work and teaching.

Education:

Required
Terminal Degree
MD, DO, or equivalent


Qualifications:

- Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program is required.
- Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Cardiology is required. Fourth year in advanced imaging preferred, but not required.
- Experience in an academic medical setting preferred.
- For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on the CHS or CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment or promotion to Associate Professor or Professor on the CHS or CT Track.
License/certification:
- Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics is required.
- Candidate is required to have or be eligible for a Wisconsin medical licensure.
- Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges.

Full or Part Time: 50% - 100%
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles listed in this posting. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.
This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial Caregiver Check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every four years.
