Job Description

The Payroll Administrator III reports directly to the Director of Engineering Payroll and is responsible for many tax related duties pertaining to TEES, TEEX and TTI as well as the College of Engineering.  This position serves as the Lead Administrator for TEES and TTI in the GLACIER Nonresident Tax Compliance System.  This includes overseeing receipt and review of required onboarding documents, overseeing and review of tax treaties and the timely issuance of Form 1042-S each tax year. The position is also responsible for online paying and reporting of state income taxes as well as year-end reconciliation and reporting for TEEX and serving as backup for TTI and TEES.  The position also reconciles and clears payroll expenditures from the TEES Payroll Default Account on a timely basis.  The other main duty of this position is to calculate and communicate Federal tax deposit information to all three Engineering Agencies as soon as each payroll is settled. This is a security-sensitive position. The individual in this position is required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by HIPAA regulations. The individual is required to handle PHI in accordance with A&M System policy and is further required to complete HIPAA training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable time frame after the individual’s employment, and on an as-needed basis thereafter.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with reviewing and processing refunds for employees, mainly in the area of FICA refunds.

  • Answers all questions from Nonresident Aliens related to GLACIER as well as those involving tax deductions and tax treaties.

  • Works with students on FICA tax issues and questions.

  • Clears items off of the Agency Default account (277799) through research and PCT process.

  • Registers TEES for state income tax withholding in new states as needed.

  • Performs other related duties as requested or when necessary.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Two years of related experience.
