Responsibilities*
  • Responsible for Patient Transportation and Lift Team staff that are present on shift/area
  • Train new and existing staff in the proper processes and procedures for safe patient transporting
  • Manager staffing levels and maintain labor hours for each day to control expenses
  • Ensure employees are compliant with yearly mandatory training
  • Respond and resolve customer issues
  • Preform daily rounding and staff observations to support productivity
  • Monitor timeliness of patient transports and identify staff who may need additional guidance or support to reach goal of 30 mins per transport
  • Complete staff evaluations
  • Accurately manager payroll and leave of absences to identify when staff hiring is needed
  • Conduct interviews for potential new regular or temporary staff
  • Develop and recommend department operating budget and ensure the department operates within budget
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies
  • Conduct daily staff meetings/huddles

Required Qualifications*
  • Three or more years of direct supervisory experience of one or multiple supply/service processes
  • Capacity to develop knowledge of logistics principles and practices inclusive of business techniques and the technical aspects of the area of responsibly
  • Demonstrated capability of the following interpersonal skills: team building, team work coaching, conflict resolution, communication
  • Proven project planning, goal setting, and change management skills
  • Reasonable knowledge of computer systems (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, M-Pathways: Timekeeping)

Desired Qualifications*
  • Associates Degree, or higher, or 3 or more progressive years of supervisory skills
  • Considerable knowledge of University of Michigan and Michigan Medicine policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Business experience in an administrative capacity

Work Schedule

Standard hours: 40

Work days: Monday - Friday

Hours of work: 3:00pm - 11:30pm


Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
