Patient Support Services Supervisor (SOCIAL WORK HC SUPV 2)
Job Summary
The UCD Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center (HTC) provides comprehensive care for individuals with rare bleeding and clotting disorders. As the Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) Supervisor, the incumbent's primary role is to supervise and train our social work team, ensuring productivity and offering daily support. The incumbent will play a crucial part as a dedicated member of the medical and psychosocial care team, conducting assessments and interventions based on departmental needs. Additionally, the incumbent will actively participate in departmental leadership meetings and interdisciplinary team meetings as needed.
The LCSW Supervisor will serve as a vital member of the team, addressing the medical and psychosocial needs of patients and their families, providing therapeutic counseling, coordinating resources, and offering patient and community education. The incumbent's demonstrated expertise in social work principles, community resource navigation, insurance problem-solving, and service coordination for ongoing care will be essential.
The incumbent will also contribute to our clinical research efforts by joining the HTC's research and quality improvement team. This includes obtaining patient consent, executing research protocols, compiling and submitting research findings, and presenting research at relevant meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid California Board of Behavioral Sciences License Clinical Social Worker license without restrictions.
  • Master's degree from an accredited school of Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field; with one year experience in a health or social service field.
  • Three years of clinical/direct service experience post-licensure within an acute care hospital and/or ambulatory clinic setting.
  • Minimum of one year supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and abilities to use the current DSM manual for clinical assessments.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of individual, child, and family development, human behavior, communication, cultural influences, social work practice, psychotherapy, case management, and the integration of social work with medicine.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in child and elder abuse, and domestic violence reporting requirements, as well as relevant legislation (e.g., Tarasoff, patient confidentiality).
  • Demonstrated advanced level skills using EMR/Epic, Microsoft Office Suite, and Invision as applicable to the position.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills to resolve differences in a cooperative spirit, create mutually beneficial solutions, and effectively communicate within the clinic team, other UCDH departments, external associates, and patients.
  • Demonstrated experience with utilizing community resources.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the legal implications of clinical practice and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience working with bleeding and clotting disorder population.

Receipt of federal funding requires the HTC to perform research and quality improvement (QI) projects, participate in national patient data-collection, and improve program performance and outcomes.
