Minimum Acceptable Qualifications Required:

1. any combination of (1) progressively responsible experience in patient services work (such as admissions, billing, collection, and/or interviewing) in a hospital and (2) college credit for coursework in business, finance, public administration, or social science which totals three years; with a minimum of two years of experience. College credit must be evaluated on the basis of one semester hour being equivalent to 1.5 months of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Experience with clinical, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • Knowledge of communities in the UIH and MSHC catchment area; knowledge of community resources and of MSHC and UIH processes, structure, and function; knowledge of payor practices and requirements.
  • Demonstrated organizational skill, excellent oral and written communication skills, including interpersonal skills and customer relation skills for assisting patients, families, and healthcare team in person and by phone.
  • Spanish language skills desirable but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive, work effectively with a team environment, and responsible for completing work accurately and on-time.

Qualified applicants will be required to successfully pass the civil service exam for this classification. Exams will be administered at the UIC campus.
