Job Summary
[VASCULAR CLINIC]
The Patient Services Representative 3 (MOSC 3) is responsible for sustaining an environment of intrinsic goodwill for the practice while providing optimum services to patients. This position requires the skills and ability to manage the level of responsibility and accountability necessary to provide specialized duties for the department/clinical team for which it is assigned.
This position may also perform front office duties consistent with that of Patient Services Representative 2 (MOSC 2), per operational needs.
This posting is a Transfer/Promotional opportunity for UCD/UCDHS Employees (internal candidates). Applications from current UCD/UCDHS employees will be considered first. Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated recent experience with referrals, authorizations and/or scheduling
• Demonstrated recent experience with Epic or EMR
• Demonstrated recent experience answering a high volume of calls and execute requests in a timely manner.
• Experience in practices and protocols related to medical office procedures, including but not limited to medical terminology, appointments, medical records, insurance verification, cashiering, billing, etc.
• Knowledge of health care insurance systems, which may include Medi-Cal, MediCare, HMO, PPO, fee-for-service, county-funded coverage, and workers' compensation, sufficient to properly obtain and track authorizations, appoint patients, make referrals for consults, diagnostics, and ancillary services, coordinate hospital services, complete and submit billing documentation, and explain provisions and requirements to patients.
• Knowledge of ICD-9/10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines sufficient to accurately identify services performed, including diagnoses, procedures, and supplies.
• PC proficiency in computer system applications (such as MS Office Suite, cloud-based applications, etc.).

• A minimum 1- year experience in an Ambulatory Care setting

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• This position is in the Vascular Center Clinic with the ability to float to the Advanced Wound Care Clinic to support operations when needed.
• Must be willing to work variable days (including weekends), hours and locations as required to meet business needs of the practice.
• For positions with medical records responsibilities, duties require ability to retrieve and file bulky medical record charts (up to 3' thick) stored in filing cabinets and on shelves that may be above shoulder level and below waist level, and to efficiently transport multiple charts weighing 5 to 25 pounds throughout the medical office.

Special Requirements

• This position is a critical position and subject to a background check and drug screen. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history, identity checks and drug screen.
• As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California Policy on Vaccination Programs , as may be amended or revised from time to time. Federal, state, or local public health directives may impose additional requirements.
