POSITION INFORMATION:  Coordinates schedules of patients in an outpatient clinic and provides clerical assistance toward the smooth operation of the facility. 


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Answers each phone call and each patient check-in in a friendly and respectful way. When possible, each phone call will be answered within 3 rings. 
  • Will review information in EMR to update patient information. 
  • Directs patient concerns to patient liaison for solution. 
  • Checks patients in for appointment assuring all information is accurate.
  • Identifies patient complaint priority. appointments. 
  • Reviews EMR for patient electronic health record for appointments or to file lab, x-ray, hospital information or other information that may be needed for patient's appointment. 
  • Accepts payments and follows cash drawer policy for accurate handling of payments/receipts.
  • Totals all clinic encounter forms and inspects the form for completeness and accuracy. 
  • Codes procedures and diagnoses. 
  • Ensures the resident and faculty signatures are on each encounter form.
  • Copies insurance cards and distributes to the appropriate people.
  • Prepares encounter forms and billing packets for patients to be seen.
  • Balances and closes cash box daily. 
  • Makes patient information packets as needed.
  • Communicates with patients of all ages in a professional manner at all times.
  • Communicates with co-workers and employees in a manner which promotes a "team oriented" approach.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meetings and education programs. 
  • Maintains patient confidentiality. 
  • All other tasks as assigned.

    REQUIREMENTS:  

    Education:  High School diploma or GED 


    Experience:  18 months experience:   minimum of 6 months experience in a clinical environment and 12 months experience in a customer service role


    Skills:   


    • Basic computer skills, keyboarding, answering the phone. 

    • Ability to work with wide variety of professionals and patients. 

    • Excellent customer service skills expected. 

    • Basic calculations and grammar expected.
