Position Summary Information


Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Craniofacial and Surgical Care provides a diverse approach to treatment for patients with craniofacial or oral and maxillofacial conditions, including those with multiple or complex oral health problems. The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery discipline functions within the Adams School of Dentistry and UNC Hospitals and specializes in implant surgery, jaw tumors and disease, trauma surgery, cleft palates, facial cosmetic surgery and much more.
Position Summary
The Patient Relations Representative is primarily responsible for patient registration; maintaining clinic schedules (scheduling, canceling, modifying, and/or reconciling) in EPIC; communicating with faculty and clinical staff concerning appointments; answering phone calls; performing cashiering duties; verifying insurance eligibility.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The successful candidate must demonstrate very strong interpersonal, communication (both oral and written), and organizational skills. The ability to multi-task, including scheduling appointments and answering multiple lines, while meeting with students, residents, and faculty is essential.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prior experience using EPIC (electronic medical record system). Proficiency in dental and medical terminology is essential. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
