Summary

Patient Business Services is seeking a Patient Accounts Representative II who will serve as a customer service representative and will become an expert in collecting bad debt from patients. The Patient Accounts Representative must have extensive knowledge of billing and collections in order to address more complex questions/issues related to the care provided. The applicant must be resourceful and be able to work independently in order to be able to effectively collect, meet quality and productivity standards of the department. 

 

We have a strong team and are looking to recruit a candidate who is articulate, has a positive demeanor, and enjoys interacting with patients.

 

This position is currently hybrid with two days in the office per week.


Job Duties
  • Contacts patients with large bad debt that have an upcoming appointment. 
  • Reviews the account to attempt to update insurance; sets up a payment plan or collect the dated balance.
  • Collects dated balances ass part of a College-wide initiative to improve collections.
  • Recognizes accounts that need additional follow up to ensure balances are the responsibility of the patient.
  • Collects dated balances as part of a College-wide initiative to improve collections. 
  • Assists the department to focus on improving all parts of the revenue cycle.
  • Recognizes accounts that need additional follow up to ensure balances are the responsibility of the patient.
  • Works well the members of the Patient Accounts Representative team.
  • Works closely with clinical departmental contacts, such as clinic managers.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Patient Account or Coding certification.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Passionate about interacting with patients.
