Our PATIENT FINANCIAL SERVICES department has an outstanding opportunity for a 6-month fixed duration PATIENT ACCOUNT REPRESENTATIVE 1 (Full-Time, Days).

This individual will: Print medical records and itemizations as required for claims submission; Print, distribute and mail claims; process returned mail; Post adjustments to patient accounts according to departmental procedures; Screen, scan and process incoming correspondence to ensure routing to appropriate work queues/units; Produce and print account summaries, itemizations, and other documents as required, in response to requests from  payers and others; Perform data entry; document activities accurately in all applicable systems, and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Other duties may include: Post and balance daily remittances to patient accounts; post allowances and adjustments accompanying cash remittances;

This position is responsible for processing select activities to the patient accounts receivable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Screen, scan and process incoming correspondence to ensure routing to appropriate work queues/units;
• Print, distribute and mail claims; process returned mail;
• Print medical records and itemizations as required for claims submission;
• Produce and print account summaries, itemizations, and other documents as required, in response to requests from  attorneys and others;
• Perform data entry; document activities accurately in all applicable systems, and in accordance with departmental policies and procedures;
• Post adjustments to patient accounts according to departmental procedures;
• Post and balance daily remittances to patient accounts; post allowances and adjustments accompanying cash remittances;
• Maintain confidentiality of information, including protected health information (PHI);
• Participate in and attend meetings and training as required;
• May assist in orienting and training new staff;
• May occasionally speak to patients, clinical staff, or third-party payers; and
• Perform other duties as assigned.

DESIRED:
• Knowledge of UB, CMS 1500, ADA and other utilized billing forms and payer requirements.
• Knowledge of Epic Hospital Billing and/or Professional Billing, and registration systems.

REQUIREMENT:
High School graduation or equivalent AND one year of experience in patient accounting, customer service, or a related office environment
OR
Equivalent education/experience
