Job Description

This position is located at the College of Allied Health in the John W. Keys Speech & Hearing Center Clinic.  

This clinic provides professional services in audiology and speech-language pathology to the public while providing graduate student training and education.

The John W. Keys Speech and Hearing Center is seeking a committed, motivated, and organized Patient Account Liaison. 

  • Serves as a liaison and resource from the central billing office to assigned areas.
  • Services include accounts receivable, registration, charge entry, follow-up and reimbursement analysis.
  • Receives and resolves problems in process.
  • Provides timely and accurate responses to informational and data requests from departments and provides continuous feedback.
  • Accountable for keeping the Director of Patient Accounts informed of reports that show trends and areas of concern.
  • Recommends and implements necessary changes to policies and procedures to improve performance.
  • Develops monitoring tools for results of operations and implements corrective action.
  • Meets with department managers regularly to address areas or issues of concern.
  • Responsible for developing the means and reporting regularly how the billing and collecting process is serving physicians by giving direction to managers to maintain patient accounts standards.
  • Responsible for the training and development of the managers and their staff.
  • Ensures the managers have the necessary tools for their teams in order to fulfill the functions of their positions, to include but not limited to CPT manuals and hardware, and software.
  • Maintains working knowledge and recommends changes to information systems, managed care contracts and their operation requirements, and legal requirements.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

 

Job Requirements

--- 
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • 48 months experience in administration, medical/commercial insurance, or collections.

Equivalent/ Substitution: Will accept 48 months experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree for a total of 96 months experience 


Skills:
  • IDX or equivalent billing system experience.
  • Reporting and query development experience.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical: Sitting for long periods of time. Speaking and listening. Manual dexterity.
  • Environmental: Standard office environment.
