Position Focus:

Reporting to the Pathways Program Director in Yale's office of New Haven Affairs and working closely with Director Public School Partnerships the person in this position, will be responsible for the development of new programming as well as the coordination and administration of all aspects of ongoing programs with a focus in the Arts and Humanities. They are responsible for maintaining the infrastructure that supports departments, faculty, staff, and students across the University in developing and implementing successful, on-campus, out-of-school time programs and events for local 6-12th grade students. Work also includes marketing and communications,  planning, organizing, staffing, and leading program activities, as well as the  training and supervision of student and summer employees. This person will also be responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of the Pathways to Arts and Humanities Summer Scholars Program.


Essential Duties

1. In support of the overall mission, plans, directs, and oversees programmatic activities. Assumes primary accountability for disseminating and publishing all program information to create public awareness and support of the program.  2. Works closely with leadership, internal and external colleagues, and community residents to further develop and implement strategic plans.  3. Oversees the development of detailed plans and successful implementation of projects in concert with stakeholders. 4. Works closely with business analysts, technical professionals, end users, and project stakeholders during the requirements, solutions design, and implementation phases to develop detailed project plans for implementation.  5. Oversees and trains all student employees and summer program staff. 6. Develops the administrative infrastructure of the program that supports the strategic direction of the program from leadership. Oversees human resource and administrative functions of the program. 8. Investigates, identifies, implements, and oversees the maintenance of systems to gather, track and report information to support the initiatives of the program. Tracks all program activities and regularly informs leadership of progress on each initiative. Recommends structural or programmatic adjustments, changes or additions based on full knowledge of missions, goals and objectives. 9. Works on risk assessment, communication planning, and program entry criteria.  10. Create detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, to ensure the successful completion of the project. 11. Manages client expectations and provides issue/risk identification and escalation pathways. 12. Analyzes user needs and proposes new training programs or systems. 13. Designs, develops, and executes communication systems to ensure effective exchange of information between project stakeholders, senior management, and staff.


Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in a related field and four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Required Skill/Ability 1:

Self-starter and entrepreneurial, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to quickly learn new technology, including online systems and platforms such as Salesforce, Canva, Slack, Notion, comfort with managing and analyzing and presenting large amounts of information in a fast-paced environment.


Required Skill/Ability 2:

Demonstrated flexibility and agility to adapt to changing work demands and balance many projects simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to interact with a broad range of individuals including high school & college-age students, parents, faculty members and staff on a wide variety of academic and professionally related issues.


Required Skill/Ability 3:

Proven ability with and/or demonstrated comfort level teaching and working with high school-age audiences. Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.


Required Skill/Ability 4:

Demonstrated commitment to pedagogical development in high school students and or undergraduate and graduate students. Familiarity with Yale University's expertise in Arts and Humanities fields.


Required Skill/Ability 5:

Ability to work evenings and weekends.


Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Masters or Ph.D. in a field relevant to the academic content of Pathways to Arts and Humanities. Experience with academic enrichment programs.


Physical Requirements

Mobility and the ability to drive are required. Ability tp move, lift, carry supplies, equipment, and materials weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance from floor to waist height and 20 pounds to shoulder height. Ability to carry supplies up or down stairs, if necessary.
