Pathology Support Services Administrative Assistant


Department:

Functions as an Administrative Assistant for Pathology Support Services within the Department of Pathology; opens, sorts, and distributes incoming correspondence and packages, and performs customer service-related duties such as answering the phone and problem resolution. Specific duties include responding to inquiries from department and medical center staff, pathologists, clinicians, physicians; maintaining multiple Excel files for the department; opening and sorting courier deliveries; compiling and organizing materials for Tumor Boards; receiving pathology slides from outside institutions and completing Quality Assurance form; sorting Information Office email mailboxes; serving as a liaison for faculty to facilitate shipping of department slides and blocks to outside facilities; producing mailings for patient consultation reports; returning and receiving outside blocks and slides according to retention policies; collaborating with medical center personnel to ensure timely communications to complete accessioning process for patients; requesting blocks and slides to be returned from outside facilities, requesting results from reference laboratories; and collaborating with OSUP Billing to resolve documentation issues within our pathology reports.

Minimum Required Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and one year of relevant experience is required. Per CCS specifications; six months experience (600 hours training) using computers to generate a variety of materials ranging from basic to complex; six months experience (600 hours course work) in office practices and procedures; six months experience (600 hours course work) in customer service.
