Summary

The Department of Pathology & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is seeking an academically oriented, highly skilled, and motivated experienced academic pathologist with outstanding diagnostic expertise to join our team as Chief of Service for Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center. The role is primarily based at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center (BSLMC). BSLMC is an 881-bed quaternary care academic medical center within the BCM network. The Chief will have oversight of a staff of twelve surgical pathologists, six Clinical Pathologists, and multiple Pathology division directors. Volumes are approximately 20,000 surgical specimens, 5,000 cytology specimens and 2.5 million clinical lab tests per year. In addition, our client envisions surgical pathology expertise to be applied remotely to our operation within our Baylor Pathology network, which regionally serves over 30 medical facilities in Texas.

 

The ideal candidate must have strong leadership, administrative, and diagnostic skills and expertise and desire to work and lead collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. The candidate is expected to contribute to the educational, scholarly, and translational research activities of the Department of Pathology & Immunology. Our department trains over 30 residents each year and has 12 fellowship programs. The candidate should be eligible for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank with the opportunity of an endowed chair appointment. Annually, the BCM pathology faculty in Texas generates diagnoses on over 170,000 surgical specimens that include a plethora of complex resections and biopsies.

Minimum Qualifications

Interested individuals must be board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology through the American Board of Pathology. Additional subspecialty training and board certification are strongly recommended. Subspecialty surgical pathology fellowship training is desired. Candidates must also be eligible for an unrestricted Texas medical license.
