Bellevue University offers quality liberal arts and career-oriented programs at undergraduate and graduate levels to a diverse student body through both in-class and online venues.  Our Academic Support Services Team is currently looking for an energetic and knowledgeable individual to fill our Part-timeWriting Center Consultant Position.

Primary Function:  The Writing Center Consultant is responsible for delivering Writing Center services that align with retention goals and academic support strategies. In collaboration with the College of Arts and Sciences and other academic supports, the consultant will assist students with strengthening their writing and critical thinking skills that are important in college and in the workplace.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, or related area of study with demonstrated competency in writing; master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years of writing-related experience, writing center or tutoring experience preferred
  • Familiarity with effective writing practices
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • A demonstrated understanding of college student development
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously with strong attention to detail, and embody excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding student and personnel-related matters
  • Advanced communication skills in order to articulate appropriate suggestions for writing improvement
  • Ability to use proficiently Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
