Position Summary Information


Objective

Provide instruction in multiple topics of welding operations including safety, blueprint reading, layout procedures, materials, use of equipment and hands-on applications. Techniques include STICK, MIG and TIG.

Essential Duties

1. Lead classroom and lab areas in “culture of safety”
2. Provide instruction in welding courses as scheduled.
3. Prepares course syllabi for each class, including meeting dates and times, dates of quizzes, tests, and projects
4. Grades, administers and facilitates quizzes, exams, projects, and other tools used to evaluate student progress.
5. Manage classroom activities by enforcing standards, rules and regulations, especially related to safety.
6. Make recommendations to the Division regarding curriculum additions, deletions, or revisions.
7. Provides a grade evaluation on each student’s performance in a fashion and frequency required by the college.
8. Provide feedback to the Division on course progress, suggested improvements or problems that may impact program quality or stability.
9. Model lab safety protocols for students at all times.
10. Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Three years’ professional work experience in welding.

Needs to be proficient in one or more of the following: shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, gas tungsten, plasma cutting, Oxy – Fuel and flux core welding.

Preferred Experience and Training

Appropriate AWS certification(s).

NCCER Certification for welding.

Five years of work experience with stick and other arc welding processes performed in manufacturing and field settings.

Experience teaching adults

Physical Requirements
Required Degree, License or Certifications

Valid State of Texas driver’s license

Special Notes To Applicants

Position will be responsible for training new hires in welding techniques. Short term assignments.
