Position Summary
We seek well-qualified candidates for a 1-year half-time visiting teaching assistant professor (VTAP) position in the department of psychology at the University of Denver. This position involves teaching eight courses distributed among fall, winter, and spring quarters. Specifically, this position will be expected to teach a graduate level course in correlation and regression, as well as undergraduate courses in statistics, introduction to psychology, and lifespan development. Successful applicants must hold a Ph.D. in psychology or a related field (or be A.B.D in an appropriate Ph.D. program, have experience teaching psychology courses with available teaching evaluations, the ability to communicate effectively with undergraduates, teach using universal design and inclusive teaching principles, and the ability to use computer assisted course management and presentation methods.
Essential Functions
The department operates on the quarter system. The (VTAP) will teach eight courses in Psychology as assigned by the department chair. In addition, the VTAP will hold office hours and regularly communicate with students and prepare for courses. The (VTAP) must have the ability to communicate effectively with undergraduates, teach using universal design and inclusive teaching principles, and the ability to use computer assisted teaching and course management and presentation methods.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Teaching experience in psychology courses.
- Experience in culturally diverse settings.
- Background working with culturally diverse populations.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Psychology (ABD considered for an Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor hire). Previous experience in teaching and advising undergraduates.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. with previous experience of instruction, advising, and faculty-level participation in department of psychology in an accredited university.
- Experience in curriculum and course development, innovative pedagogy, and contributions to inclusive excellence.
Work Schedule
Varied. While the University's administrative offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught, service commitments, and research agendas. The University's academic calendars are posted on the registrar's website (the law school is on a semester system and has a different academic calendar ).

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $25,000
