Minimum Hourly Rate:

$16.95

Job Duties:

Provide independent support to instructor of record in a specific program area.
1. Develop and demonstrate laboratory processes for student use
2. Provide direct training to students on program specific processes/techniques
3. Assist with developing and administering examinations, grading papers, and providing input to instructor of record regarding student performance
4. Assist with coordination and delivery of classroom instruction to students
5. Assist with curriculum and instruction planning for students
6. Provide program area support to instructor and students
7. Monitor and assist students in the classroom/laboratory

8. Works collaboratively by assisting teachers in assessment, curriculum implementation, student interactions, enforcing safe behaviors, and enhancing social growth of students in the classroom

9. Assist students in the use and application of specific vocational knowledge, skills, tools, processes, and equipment. May assist students and coordinate with business representatives in an in-school or off-site work environment as part of the vocational learning experience

10. Oversees student behavior and safety. Takes steps to intervene when students are not in control, not in the proper location, or may be in dangerous or unsafe situations

11. Provides instructional support and tutoring to students in large groups, small groups, and one-on-one situations.

12. Documents behavior and progress of students to assist teacher in assessing progress with education plans. Maintain, or assist in maintaining, student weekly progress reports.

13. Performs clerical duties such as making copies, operating office equipment, answering telephones, ordering materials, and record keeping

14. Recruiting and on/off campus program activities and promotional events are a position expectation.

15. Other duties as assigned

Work Hours: 20-25 hours per week, morning, afternoons, and/or nights

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Must have successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities, or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population.

2. High School Degree or equivalent work experience

3. Two years of experience in automotive area or like experience

4. Skill in the use of equipment and materials specific to the vocational area of the position.

5. Able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and changing tasks and priorities.

6. Able to assist, console, and manage students who may be emotional, distraught, or frustrated.

7. Able to remain calm, focused and in control when working with students, parents, guardians, and community members who may be difficult and challenging to engage.

8. Able to follow written and verbal direction and take the initiative to seek clarity and act when needed.

9. Be or become knowledgeable and supportive of classroom management and student discipline procedures. Constantly exhibit command and proper annunciation, spelling, syntax and use of the English language to assist and model proper language usage and professional behavioral standards by students.

10. Able to organize work and set priorities for accomplishing work in a timely and effective manner.

11. Able to protect the confidentiality of student information consistent with FERPA requirements and good judgment.

12. Able to work collaboratively and effectively with staff, students, parents, volunteers, and community members.

13. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

14. Skill in the use office and computer equipment and use standard office software and student information system software.

1. Associate’s Degree, or two years of post-high school education, or similar experience
